3D is everywhere nowadays. If you look on TV, or even watch TV it could
be on a 3D screen. CAD is software that actually designs 3D objects.
These objects are called 3D models and they can be used for a wide
variety of things. When a 3D model is completed the file can be sent
directly to the manufacturer where it can be produced. CAD conversion is
one of the most highly performed practices among CAD designers. The
days of using blueprints and a drafting board are over, and the era of
the computer is here.
Companies who do advertisement on TV, and online are using more 3D
graphics. These 3D images just don’t come from anywhere though. Special
CAD software programs allow CAD designers to create these 3D models with
the use of several 3D shaping commands. Textures, shading, surface
materials, and lighting can be applied with this software. The more
detail within a design the longer it takes to finish. 3D designers have
spent hours and even days creating the most simple objects with CAD
software.
3D models aren’t just for graphics though. Architectural CAD programs
have integrated tools for creating every aspect of the building in 3D.
The same goes for mechanical CAD programs. They have incorporated
commands for machining holes, threading nuts and bolts, cutting planes,
extruding, and revolving just to name a few. 3D models have oriented
themselves around every principal of technical drawing. Anything you see
around you has been designed with CAD software. The computer at home,
the cell phone you use, the car you drive, and the list goes on and on.
So you might ask yourself, what about the old blueprints? Well, that’s
where CAD conversion comes in. This is the process of taking the
information from a set of blueprints and transferring it into a CAD
file. A 3D CAD designer can do this with no problem, and once its done
there’s no need to do it again. If the file needs to be changed or
updated, the CAD designer simply opens the file, and makes the
correction. Whereas if it was a set of blueprints the technical drawing
would have to be drawn all over again. On top of all these great
advantages to CAD the files can be sent online through an email. This
saves time for the customer, and makes the process of production much
easier.
The compass, ruler, and drafting board have seen their last days. If
someone wants a set of blueprints for use in the field, or anything else
the CAD designer can simply print them up. All the text is legible, and
there is very little room for error. If an old set of prints needs to
be updated the process of CAD conversion will fix it. The 3D CAD
designer is a job for people with artistic abilities, and who are good
with computer software. Anything that can be imagined with the mind can
be designed by a 3D Designer. If you want to learn more about CAD visit http://www.elinedesign.com
